weft designs

The signature currently defining my label, Weft, is that of handwoven accessories with an emphasis on texture and strong colour combinations.  The faric is constructed using a blend of silks and various highly textured and lustrous yarns.  From bangles and brooches to hair knots and necklaces, each piece is designed individually with no two items being exactly the same.

Whilst studying Embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University I became interested in the relationships of form that I observed between drawing and weaving.  Allowing each process to feed into the other led me to transform the fabric I was creating into three dimensional, sculptural objects.  As an extension of this I have continued to develop my work into a strong collection of wearable pieces, refining them to suit the market.
